This post has been a LONG time coming, my apologies... I have been wicked busy (you can tell I am a Bostonian, huh?) this summer with teaching, gardening and then attending Bernina University (in San Francisco) for the first time.
For those of you who don't know what Bernina University is: It is Bernina's training for educators and dealers. Classes are offered, deals are struck, and much schmoozing is done! I was able to try out the new 780...and it was awesome! I also met the new CEO of BerninaUSA, Paul Ashworth! A really nice guy!
Some points of note...I am sure if you read patternreview.com and others, you may already know about the improvements to the "Cutwork" software suite...It was so major they are now calling it DesignWorks, and it includes a PaintWork and a CrystalWork module. What you may not know is that FINALLY the tools are sold separately and so are each module. It is a wonderful update to the software.
Also in my absence here on the blog, Bernina has released V7. What is new? Well they added features like "Stumping" which is kinda cool...but really what got my attention is the OVERHAUL of the design space. Buttons are far FAR easier to see, there is greater contrast, and the tool bars are far easier to figure out as they are in "drawers". Is it worth updating: I give it a whole hearted "two thumbs up" with very little reservations. Some key buttons are not where they were before, so some things will take a little getting used to. With the new layout, they have taken away some of the design workspace.... But as zoom in (Z) and zoom out (f10) works, you should be all set.
A point of note, with Win 8 F10 may mean something different with your laptop... so do stay tuned as I sort an alternate hot key out for this feature!
Take care and have a GREAT Thanksgiving and Holiday Season if I don't post before it begins !
