Apparently I am getting better about posting things here in a more timely manner!!!
The Charlton Sewing Center has now become a reseller of Embird embroidery software.

We have CD's in stock next week! This is really exciting!!!

A few words of wisdom when installing the software.

If you are running Windows 7 DO NOT simply run the setup.exe file!

Do the following...

Go to the search field in the START menu (that little windows icon in the left hand side of your screen... yep, that one... click on it. There should be a search window that appears at the bottom of the pop up window..

Type in UAC. (this is short for User Account Control...not that you need to know that, but it may come in handy some day). There is a window that pops up and on it a sliding button that moves from top to bottom on the left. Move the sliding button all the way to "NEVER NOTIFY". Don't worry, this is just for the install...

Then you MUST turn off your Windows firewalls...
Now here is the deal.. if you have a virus protection that runs on your machine, you control this by going into their control panel and changing it. Where that control panel is, greatly depends on who's software it is. (I had to dig around for Nortons... it wasn't very logical on a clients machine I was installing it on the other day).
If you do NOT have a virus scanner, then simply go into your CONTROL PANEL and you should see the firewall control icon there.

IF you have bought a NEW laptop, and have not signed up or registered your software with what ever preinstalled virus scanning option, YOUR FIREWALL is still being controlled by virus software you did not sign up for... isn't that wonderful...

So you have a choice that you have to make, either register the virus software OR uninstall it. Now the choice is yours, I don't really like the way virus protection software runs on many machines... but viruses are out there... so be careful in either choice you make...

Now from the CD, copy the Embird_Base_Install folder, and then open that folder, and create a shortcut of the exe file in that folder. Copy that shortcut to your desktop, RIGHT click on it. In the popup window, select PROPERTIES, make sure that in the COMPATIBILITY tab that WindowsXP is selected!

Now run the install from the shortcut that you just created and edtied and it should install!!!

Hi Ros,

I've downloaded the trial version. If Charlton Sewing Center is now a distributor, how can a register for full capabilities of the program? And, what kind of pricing are we talking about.
